Plagiarism Education Week 2014

Call for Proposals

Plagiarism Education Week will take place this year from April 21-25, 2014. Turnitin along with its sponsors invite presentation proposals for its second annual virtual conference on the topic of plagiarism, plagiarism prevention, academic integrity, and enhancing student research skills.

The theme of this year’s conference is “From Copying to Critical Thinking.”  We are interested in proposals that speak to the critical nexus that exists between student learning, student research, and the enhancement of student critical thinking skills.

We welcome proposals that, for example:

  • Share effective strategies for using intentional or purposeful plagiarism to enhance student learning;
  • Discuss best practices for teaching critical thinking that leverage student research exercises or activities;
  • Demonstrate or share research on the connection between building student research skills and its impact on teaching students to think critically;
  • Address topics related to media literacy skills and enhancing student critical thinking.

Proposals should be 300 words or less. Feel free to include links to additional information, previously published work, or examples. Submission deadline is March 23, 2014.

If your proposal is accepted, you will be invited to present in one of our daily virtual conference sessions the week of April 21st to April 25th. Selected presenters will receive a $500 honorarium and be eligible to win a trip to the 6th International Integrity and Plagiarism Conference in the UK in July.* Other proposals will be considered for guest blogs and papers that will be made available for download.
